About me!

Who is Pixie?

Hello! I’m Pixie! Or as most people know me, Hannah-lyz 🙂

This is me! I thought it might be nice for you all to be able to put a face to all of my ramblings!
Now, about me.

I grew up in a city in South Wales, but when I was 15, my family upped-sticks and moved to a lovely farm in the country.

I’ve always loved the countryside and nature, so this was perfect for me. My brother and I would spend days just wandering the hills, and the farm became an animal sanctuary of sorts. Over the years, we’ve looked after so many animals! Including chickens, Shetland ponies, goats, sheep, 2 boisterous turkeys, cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, pigeons, and a very flirty peacock! I’ve almost lost count how many! So needless to say, I’ve always had a deep love of animals!
I’ve been vegetarian my whole life, and I made the switch over to vegan when I was about 12 years old. It’s strange to think that I’ve spent over half my life vegan! ♥ And I wouldn’t change a thing! ♥

I currently live in a wonderful house in Devon (a bit of a shock after the rolling hills of Wales!) with my lovely fiancé Lee. Our two little rabbits, Pertwee and Vincent, are currently living in Wales (where my mum has been very kindly rabbit-sitting for the past 2 years!), but hopefully in this new house, they can finally come home!

( I wanted to go for artists names, Lee wanted Dr Who names.. so we compromised! Gold star to whoever can say who they’re named after!)

Why The Vegan Pixie?

Hi, I’m Pixie… and *deep breath* – I’m a cooking addict. Phew, that feels good to say.

I’ve always been passionate about cooking! Being vegan, it can be a little tricky finding delicious, and also healthy food, whether you’re eating out, at a friend’s, or trying to find some “convenience” food to make life a little easier. So I’ve taught myself over the years to cook from scratch (after being given a lot of tips and inspiration from my Dad!). I’ve always loved cooking for family and friends, and it’s long been suggested that I open a café (something to aim for, perhaps!) So I thought that it was about time I shared my cooking with other people, too.

My blog has recently undergone a name change – from “Pixie Produce” to “The Vegan Pixie” (which is why my banner still needs updating!).

The reason for this is that, when I first started my blog, I had intended on creating recipes to then produce and sell to the lovely vegans around the world. I’ve even got a health and hygiene certificate! (Good news for friends coming to eat!). But as the months went on, I soon realised that what I loved doing was creating and sharing my recipes with everyone. Nothing makes me happier than reading a comment saying “I tried making this, and loved it!”.

It never ceases to amaze me that other people make and enjoy the same foods I do, and I’m honoured and humbled by every comment!

I’m so happy to be a part of the vegan blogging community, and I’d just like to say a quick “Thank you!” for stopping by :).

So have a browse, ask any questions if you want (I love answering them!) and I hope you find something you enjoy!

And if you have a blog too, comment and let me know :). I love seeing what other people come up with!

Much love and sparkles =]

My husband and I are big Dr. Who fans, and he’s been a fan since he was a boy. So I knew right away that you must have named your bunny after Jon Pertwee! As for Vincent, I’m guessing after Van Gogh? If so, that’s a Dr. Who reference too! 🙂

Haha you’re absolutely right! 😀 Got to love Doctor Who! Can’t wait to see the new series! And I saw your Dr Who-themed posts! Love them. I may have to make bowtie pasta when the new series comes out! 🙂

Hi Pixie, my husband Richard met your brother on the National Express from Heathrow to Cheltenham on Friday 20th June. They exchanged names, Facebook details etc so they could stay in touch. Unfortunately I accidently threw the piece of paper with your brother’s details away and I would really like to ask if you could message me your brother’s name and Facebook name! They spent the entire journey talking about music and the ukelele festival in Cheltenham so I feel awful that I lost his info. Ben told us about your blueberry dressing which is why I found you! Thank you so much, Emma Rankin. emma.dutson@gmail.com

I want to live on that farm! It looks wondrous! Being American, I found your mention of “upped-sticks” charming! Much cooler than saying “moved” (blah). Your recipes all look so good, I will def be trying some soon! Thank you! and thanks to Marciano Fandango for mentioning your blog!

Aww well thank you! I’m glad you found it charming! (Rather than just think me an oddball!)
And yes, it was so sweet of him to share it! I’m glad you’re enjoying it too. If you ever have any questions, don’t be afraid to ask! 🙂
