Hello! I know I know, I haven’t blogged in ages! It’s been crazy busy here in Pixie land lately, and this week I’m trying get everything sorted ready to move house on the weekend! Eeek!
And yep, that’s another house move. So far, we have spent Christmas in a new house every year for at least the past 6 years.. Every time we move, we say “We’ll definitely be staying here longer than the last house!”… And then every year, somehow it doesn’t end up working out that way. Oh well, perhaps we’re really just nomads? .. With lots and lots of stuff? I honestly don’t know how we accumulate so much! ..Well, I do.. I have a lot of art supplies, I hoard kitchen doodahs and gadgets like a culinary magpie, and I have enough clothes for a small country… I could try blaming it on our little one.. Kids have lots of stuff, right..? But really, it’s just me..
So, having been too busy (that’s my excuse anyway..) to blog lately, and getting busier by the day as the move approaches, I have gone and done the sane thing of signing up to this years Vegan MOFO! Which is essentially a month-long blogging challenge, where bloggers attempt to blog every day (or at least 20 times) about all things vegan! Completely sane of course.. and will in no way drive me bonkers.. (Though I do have mental images of myself trying to keep typing out posts whilst balancing boxes to move on my head..)
Anyway, I have a tonne of posts piling up to share with you all (I still need to tell you all about the Raw Fruit Fest! So much to tell!), as well as lots of other lovely things. But I thought that I would ease back into blogging with a nice and simple post today.
Now, you probably all already know how to make smoothies. Add stuff to blender – blend – drink! It’s not rocket science. But it’s always nice to see new recipes, so I’m going to share one I’ve been making this week which I’ve fallen in love with.
Normally when I make a smoothie, it’s an everything-but-the-kitchen-sink (okay, add that in too) kind of smoothie. But the one I’ve been drinking lately is pretty much as simple as it gets! I made it as an experiment, and I was pretty shocked at how yummy so few ingredients can be. It’s actually a little more like a thick, vanillary milkshake than a smoothie, which surprised me as I normally don’t like shakes!
The recipe makes enough for about a glass and a half of smoothie. You could easily add in extra if you wanted enough for two people, but I quite like having a little left over that I can then enjoy later on in the day!
I’ve also tried adding a few tbs of protein powder to it, and it blends in beautifully.
Let me know if you give it a go! I can’t wait to see what everyone else comes up with this year! I’ve been following Vegan MOFO for years, but this is the first time I’ve ever attempted to take part.. Eek! Wish me luck!
Super Simple Strawberry Smoothie-Shake
By September 1, 2014Published:
Hello! I know I know, I haven't blogged in ages! It's been crazy busy here in Pixie land lately, and this week I'm trying get …
- 1 Large Banana
- 80 g Strawberries Roughly 12 small strawberries
- 40 g Dates Roughly 8 dates
- 4 tbs Plain yoghurt I like to use Alpro soya yoghurt, but use whatever yog you like
- 1/2 Cup Non-dairy milk of choice I used Soya
- 1 tps Vanilla essence
- Handful of Ice
- 2 tbs Vanilla Protein Powder
- You don't really need instructions for this - Just pop it all in your blender, whizz until smooth and you're done!
- I love adding a big handful of ice to mine, to make it nice and frosty. You could also freeze your banana first to make it even thicker (though you may need more milk then to get it to blend). This works just as well without the strawberries, as a simple vanilla shake. So simple, but so nice! Enjoy! <3
